Garden Sewing Room

The extremely talented, Great British Sewing Bee Winner & Brand Ambassador for Simplicity, Heather Jacks, chose a Garden Affairs log cabin for her sewing studio in the garden and has now managed to free up two rooms in the house!  sewing studio in the garden

Heather visited our display centre to view the wide variety of garden buildings on offer and we discussed how she planned to use the sewing room.  The result is a large 6m x 5m cabin in heavy-duty, solid 70mm tongue & groove walls, with a very attractive apex roof & an integral store room for storage of all her materials and sewing paraphenalia.  Two sets of double glazed French doors, and long-glazed windows offer plenty of light & give a lovely view of Heather's garden.  High level windows were added for both light & ventilation.  The building is insulated in the roof & floor and solid timber walls provide excellent all year round breathability for the storage of delicate fabrics.  Electrics were added making the building available for use both day and night, for all those late night deadline projects!sewing room in the garden

"Before I had the garden sewing room", says Heather, "the dining room was the main area of action, with the spare bedroom acting as a storage space for the 25 years worth of fabrics that I had collected along the way. Our old concrete garage at the bottom of the garden had become unsafe and so the idea was hatched that we should use the space more productively. We had looked at a variety of companies that supplied garden rooms but Garden Affairs was by far the best choice going as there were no restrictions on size, shape, window configuration etc., but on top of all that, the outstanding quality of the examples that we viewed, and the great value for money too."Sewing room in garden

"Going into the sewing room now is an absolute delight", enthuses Heather, "it’s insulated and heated, so even on the coldest and most dreary days it’s a pleasure to be there. All my sewing equipment is in one space now, and with a bit of clever storage, I’ve managed to regain a bedroom and dining room in the house and no matter what mess I make I don’t have to tidy up till the project is finished....utter bliss! It’s become an absolutely fantastic place for creating and making, and I can honestly say that it has changed my life! Having a dedicated area to work in is a joy, so thank you!"
