Where did you work before the Garden Office?

"My living room in my house was my place of work previous to my office.  A garden room seemed like an ideal choice, and allows me to be more productive being out of the house.  I liked the contemporary style of long windows and double glazing of the Mini Garden Office, the fact that it is insulated for all-year-round use, and I love being in the garden surrounded by plants. I am a garden designer/horticulturalists, so working in the office in the summer, with the door open is perfect."

Why did you choose Garden Affairs?

"Garden Affairs have a fantastic range available from contemporary to classic. I love the quality of the buildings and my particular one has long double glazed windows and door with secure locks. The insulation was an important factor and size too as my garden is bijou. With the particular design of this wooden office,  I noticed that in a year I had solitary bees using the gaps between the wood horizontals as their home which as an organic garden designer and environmentalist I love".

Karen enjoys the separation of keeping her business out of the house, everything she needs is to hand

What influenced the style of garden office you chose?

"The strongest influences were the look, it had to be contemporary & it had to be small as my garden is only 4.5m x 13m & already has a shed and wood store. The height of the office had to fit with planning restrictions as I live in a terraced house & wanted to place it close to my boundary.  I also needed plenty of light, that was all important. I re-designed the rest of the garden around the new office creating a rill and new shaped borders and patio to maximise the space."

What are the main benefits of using the garden room for both you and your business?

I have a dedicated space now where my drawing board and computer both reside. Everything surrounds me and is to hand so I am not hunting down information and everything is organised! The main benefit is that the house is not cluttered with work and when I work I am more focused and not being distracted by household chores. In the summer evenings, when I often work till late, it is lovely being in the garden with the door open. Garden Office

And lastly …….. What do you like most about your garden office?

"What I love most about it is that its MY space and the dog's of course, as she loves to join me in the office. I call it my "Cube" and being a plants person I had to plant up on the roof as well. It is also a space where clients can see where I work and create their gardens. In my office I feel connected with the environment, when the door is open I am only a few feet away from visiting birds!"
