Victorian Potting Shed

The Victorian Potting Shed is hand crafted, with a traditional lead roof and is sturdy enough to withstand the rigours of life in the garden. There are 2 sizes available, making them ideal for any sized garden, even small city gardens where space is at a premium.

While most “sheds” serve a functional purpose, they rarely look good enough to take pride of place in the garden. The Victorian Potting Shed, provides a practical storage solution wrapped up in an elegant, classic outdoor feature.

Glazed doors and two glazed windows on the front of the building provide good lighting making it suitable for use as a small summerhouse or with the addition of insulation and double glazing, an ideal small garden office.

FAQS

  • Is it real lead?
  • Yes. Absolutely, genuine lead, milled in the UK

    • Why use lead?

Lead is the heaviest, most dense and durable of the base metals. It can be laid to any pitch, unique in that it can be repaired in situ and in time, re-cast to produce "new lead". In fact, 90% of all lead used in production today is recycled from old. Lead also improves with age, slowly developing a strongly adhering and insoluble patina providing a formidable resistance to the elements.

    • Do I need a base?

A flat, solid and stable base is essential for all summerhouses, constructed from concrete or patio stones. Floor plans and elevated drawings are available for all buildings. For Gazebos, it is preferred that the finished floor covering is in place prior to installation as retrospective fitting is unlikely to provide a satisfactory finish.

    • What about a floor?
A marine ply floor comes with all summerhouses as standard, however, a hardwood floor option is also available.
    • What about power?

An optional electrical package is offered on all our classic collection summerhouses which includes provision for two sockets and lighting. Cables are run thorough the building minimising exposed cables and are then brought to a point ready for inspection and connection by your electrician.

    • What materials are used in construction?
Fully Certified Hardwood Timber ... Where necessary the finest hardwoods are used in the structure of the buildings. Doors, posts and cills are always constructed in hardwood for longevity. Panels are constructed from exterior grade MDF, which offers longevity and no shrinkage or swelling with the seasons. Rafters are constructed from marine ply and all roofs are genuine milled lead.
    • What type of glass is used in the doors and windows?

All summerhouses are double glazed as standard and incorporate toughened glass (to British Standards) which offers strength, safety and heat resistance.

    • What are the benefits to adding insulation?

Insulation ensures the summerhouse is warm in winter and cool in summer - offering the perfect environment for all year round use, say as an office or studio.

    • How long will the colour finish last?

This does depend on circumstances, however, the manufacturers suggest a life span of six years.

The advantage of using a water based paint against a solvent based product is that the item can be re-stained at any time without the need for time consuming paint stripping and sanding.

    • Do you offer a bespoke service?

Yes. We advise a call to our experienced team who will design an option to suit you.

    • How long will delivery take?

Normally 6-8 weeks, but this can extend in the busy Summer months.

    How do I order?

To order, we require a 50% deposit made payable to Garden Affairs Ltd.

The balance is payable to the manufacturer, HSP Garden Buildings, who will install your summerhouse and provide your guarantee.
