Two Storey Granny Annex

On making the decision to realise her dream project by moving her family into her house, (whilst moving herself into a granny annex in the grounds of her garden), our customer, Deborah, came to us with architect's plans. Collaborating with other trades we manufactured & installed a top quality, open plan, eco-friendly, wooden house - handing over the shell to the next team for fit out.

The result is a fantastic 2 storey, open plan, log cabin construction timber building, manufactured in 70mm solid timber walls & measuring a generous 8m x 6.5m.

Living accommodation includes a spacious, open plan, ground level living space, kitchen, loo and  "boot room". On the first floor, there is a generous open plan bedroom with en-suite bathroom and double doors open onto a delightful, spacious balcony.

This superb quality building incorporates plenty of glazing from high specification, multi-point locking, timber double doors and a variety of tilt/turn & casement style windows for all year round comfort.  The result is a contemporary, light & airy living environment.

Our Installation team relished the technical challenges involved in this build, and from groundworks to completing the building shell took just 10 days. Below are pictures from the ground up as the build unfolded.

Timber sub frame

A pressure treated timber sub-frame was built onto concrete foundations to accommodate insulation in the floor

log cabin walls
The solid, Northern European pine walls in 70mm timber, begin to take shape.  The walls are highly stable & wind resistant due to the proper machining of the wall logs.
solid roof beams

Heavy duty, solid timber roof supports are lifted into place

Roof purlins go in

The ridge beam is fitted.

central roof support

A steep pitch roof offers plenty of height, the customer has chosen a tin roof to finish with roof lights & eco-friendly solar panels.

balcony

Double doors from the first floor bedroom lead out onto this balustraded balcony

log cabin walls
The building takes shape, and the installation team take a well earned break!

canopy
A side canopy offers shade, shelter & architectural interest

The building will be finished to full building regulations by our customer's contractors with high spec. external insulation, larch exterior painted cladding and the interior walls will be left in the natural tongue & groove timber for a light Scandinavian feel.
